The more they stay the same. Are we on the brink of a new Crusade? and a new Inquistion? This isn't the first time that Church and state has had an affair. For nearly 600 years the Church rigidly controlled the thoughts and expressions of it's members. If you didn't adhere to its strict doctrine you were branded a heretic. Joan of Arc, Galileo and others. Hundreds and thousands of people were burned at the stake because they thought differently.
In the current climate, you can be accused of being a heretic for not voting a certain way. You may not be burned at the stake, but you can be marginalized for not embracing the new righteous empire in (USA) in their crusade against the evil doers (everybody else, especially muslims) Time for a history lesson.

Not all Christians support war

The war in Iraq is still one of the most contoversial acts our nation has ever taken. Many Christians initially supported the war because they believed our government when we were told that Iraq was an eminent threat. Now that the evidence no longer supports this, why has the church remained silent? To protect their political friends? Thankfully not all Christians feel this way.

A CALL TO FREEDOM

In a few short days, one of the most magnificent events in our nation will take place. Those who we have vested with the power to govern will return that power to us. It is a point at which our republic and our democracy intersect . Some of those who have served us may be rewarded with another season of service and others will be replaced with the fresh input of those who will govern. For 4 years we as citizens have respectfully submitted to those we have sent to govern us, but on November 2, and only on November 2nd, the rulers and leaders must submit to the people. This our day, our time. What we do on this day will set the course for our future well beyond the next four years.
We as Christians now more than ever before must put on our priestly robes and do what God has commanded us to do, represent Him in the earth. We are faced with much trepidation. But we need to be reminded that all of our efforts to chart the course of the next 4 years are nothing in comparison to our kingdom responsibility, proclaiming to the nations, the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the Lord of History. He and he alone is our Lord and sovereign. We need not fear the threat of terrorism or tyranny or social and moral chaos. God has raised Jesus Christ from the dead and has given him an office higher than any of us can imagine.
When we step into the voting booth on November 2nd, we are not voting on who can best protect us from harm. God is our protector. We are not voting for who can best provide for us. God is our Provider. We are not even voting for who can be our moral leader. Only God is righteous. We are voting so that we can be free. Free to worship. Free from political and social tyranny. Free from being pressured by those who want to tell us who God would vote for. Free from the results of terrorism which is the loss of freedom itself. Free to work and earn a living without being overburdened with unfair taxes. Free to pursue our dreams regardless of our color or creed or even if we have no creed. Free to hear Gods voice speak to hearts through the counsel of his word. Wherever that leads you follow it. We must be sure that when we vote we do so with the confidence that our Lord reigns and that what matters most is that we his royal priesthood can minister to the nations.
Every nation will fail. Every political movement and ideology will give way to the coming Kingdom. Every economic system will fail. We must do what we are called to do and allow the Lord Jesus Christ to rise in the hearts of men. In the impending darkness Jesus is the light of the world. Vote for whom you choose. Vote for those issues that most concern you as it pertains to your responsibility to spread the gospel. Do not let politics divide us. Respect the choice of others. Let Jesus be the ultimate winner, because He is.
